San Antonio Source For Hi Ratio Shortening
Decorating By rocketmom1985 Updated 23 Dec 2008 , 5:08am by Tita9499

I will be accompaning hubby to VA hosptial for pre-surgery evaluation in early January and would like to find a source for high ratio shortening while there. I do not have a tax ID number or Tax exempt certificate for Texas as of yet. Anyone have suggestions for a supplier there? If purchasing from a wholesaler, will I be required to have the Tax ID number?

Please? Anyone? What about Johnson Bros. Bakery Supply...is it only wholesale?

I've never heard of Johnson Bros. Try AGS (American Gift Shoppe), I know they recently started carrying hi-ratio shortening. They are located at 18154 Blanco Rd. Here's a link to a pic of the shopping strip (it is next to the Starbucks). I'm a visual person so it helps me to know exactly what building I'm looking for.

I found a website of a store in San Antonio. I'm not sure what they actually have in the store since their website only lists a few items. Here's the link:

Let me know what you see. I only live one and half hours away.

Lucy's is actually a bakery with a very small store in front that carries mostly Wilton items and Magic Line pans. I do not recall them carrying hi-ratio. I know that AGS does carry it. Lucy's is about 45 minutes away from AGS, so I would pick one store to visit.

Emma's Bakery on Nacogdoches Rd between O'Connor and Judson sells it. You might call her to see if she has any in stock. If she doesn't, she will get it for you. She can get just about anything Johnson Bros. sells and re-sell it to you. She is closed on Mondays. HTH !
