Ok I'm not sure if this sounds dumb but I was wondering if it matters if I use regular store bought frosting from the store vs the buttercream from here online. Im trying to make a 2 tiered fondant cake for the first time but am not sure if I can make it with regular frosting?? I need it by tomorrow so please help if you can!!

There is no comparision. The store bought frosting is so sticky and tacky-it is hard to work with. Homemade buttercream is easy to make and much, much better to work with.

The taste of butter cream in my opinion is much better. Butter cream would probably be less expensive then several containers of store bought frosting. As far as how it works with the fondant that I can't help you with I have only used butter cream.

If you have the time and ingrediants I would make the butter cream. It is easier to work with and will give you better results.
However if you don't have the time or materials you can still make the cake, here is a cake I made with all canned frosting.
