Different Use For Oreo Cookie Molds!
Baking By countrycakes Updated 11 Nov 2008 , 4:38am by shanzah67

The local elementary school that my kids attended is having their 'Fall Festival' tommorrow night....I usually donate things for their Sweet Shop.....
I got out my plain front Oreo cookie molds, the ones that you melt the chocolate and pour in, add cookie, cover with chocolate....
I melted some Ghiradelli chocolate and made a pan of brownies......I scooped out a piece of brownie, made it into a 'cookie' added it to the mold and covered in chocolate....TADA! It looks like choc. covered Oreos! I am boxing them 2 per box, and they are 'gourmet brownie bites'......they are so good! I would share a pic, but dh has my camera with him..he's hunting.
Anyway, wanted to share another use for those great cookie molds!

OOOh!! That sounds so good....I'm a chocaholic.. Hubby loves the Ghiradelli brownies from the box and we happen to have one so i'm making brownies today...Yeah!!!

as a vegetarian and an animal rights activist, the word"hunting" makes me cringe......
But, that aside.....thats a great idea for the oreo molds. Thanks for sharing.

that sounds so good. I'm going to have to try that. I was actually going to post this same question since christmas is going to be here before we know it and I like to do more then just the oreos. Thanks for posting this and the brownies are a great idea!

question... could you use chocolate chip cookie bar scraps? Hmmm... would you need a "binding" if they were chewy enough to form? Hmmmm... my mouth is watering. I think I'll try that tonight.
THANKS!

I've made the chocolate covered oreos and actually made the chocolate covered brownies tonight. Do you all make them to the thickness of the mold? It seems so thick. Do you have a thick chocolate shell or do you have a special way of making it thinner? I'm actually kind of dissapointed with it. The product works fine the chocolate just seems to thick. My husband who loves chocolate even said he didn't care for the chocolate covered oreos. Is there a special way to use these. Thanks for the help.

This is why I only use DoubleStuff Oreos in the molds. If using the regular ones, there's no reason you have to fill the mold completely to the top. Just use enough chocolate to cover the Oreo and call it good.

I need to know, how do you guys get these out of the molds?? I am in no way a small, frail person and I really had to push on those suckers to get them out. And of course some broke. Did I not let them chill enough? Should I have waited for them to warm up a bit before unmolding? Is it because I used chocolate chips in stead of melting chocolate? Help!!

I would guess that you didnt let them set up enough! I stick mine in the freeezer till set and then they pop right out, if they dont want to come out I stick them back in the freezer for another min or so !
