Just threw together a sour cream pound cake from memory and put it in the oven. Cleaning up and thinking things are fine when... OMG icon_eek.gif

I forgot to put in the baking powder. Will the cake be okay?

TIA.

Probably won't rise. Just a guess. And I think it would taste funny.

I have several pound cake recipes that don't use baking powder....

My recipes call for lots of eggs, so the more eggs in your recipe the less noticeable the absence of baking powder. (The large quantity of eggs acts as the leavening.)

Your recipe might not rise as much as usual, but it shouldn't taste any different.. And being pound cake the texture is already dense, so that probably won't change much.
