My swedish grandmother used to make these for us.

It is chocolate cake mix cooked to look like a sandwich cookie.

She would make a thick chocolate devils food cake batter and pour a spoonful on to a cookie sheet 6 on a sheet and bake about 10-12 minutes.

Cool and then put a mix of marshmellow and buttercream between them.

So it is like a sandwich cookie made out of devils food cake

Loved these - she would wrap them in plastic wrap - refridgerate and let them soak up the filling them let us at them.

John Travolta circa Grease, I hope...not present-day John Travolta. icon_lol.gif

I googled Devil Dogs and found this...not sure if it helps:

The one's you can buy in the stores are straight nasty.. they are so dry and practically choke you when you eat them because they stick to your entire mouth.

Homemade ones woulld be good though.

Oh yeah! Even a blind woman can appreciate a man in uniform! I'm trying to convince my FI to join the National Guard, so I can have my own personal man in uniform. icon_rolleyes.gif

For now I'm going to settle for some of these cake devil dogs though. They sound sooo good!

Also, Topsecretrecipes.com has the recipe, but they charge 79 cents per recipe now. I have one of his books and they are really close to the recipes they "copy".
