I really like their powder sugar too! I was just there last Thursday and they are selling it for .88 a bag!

Before I started doing scratch cakes, I liked their cake mixes too - better than any of the brand names. thumbs_up.gif

.88 for powdered sugar... thumbs_up.gif Yea!!!

I will have to check out the shortening and the cake mixes. Wal-Mart has raised my brand cake mixes .20 last week, p.s. - .12, cream cheese- .23!!

Thanks for the tip!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

This is all I use...
I also use the cake mixes with the extended versions... Makes them more like scratch cakes.

I agree about the vegetable shortening. Much better price than other grocery store brands. I recently stocked up and also bought powdered sugar and light brown sugar. Their pure vanilla is good too. I had been buying it regularly until I just bought a big bottle from Restaurant Depot in Chicago. 32 oz. bottle of pure vanilla for just under $11.

Good to know! I love shopping at Aldi's but haven't bought their shortening before. I need to buy it there next time. I know what you mean about prices going up. I only do cakes for church and family and it has started impacting the pocket book more than it used to!

I buy all my ingredients for my cakes at Aldi's (not to mention all my "regular" food, too!)
