I was asked to make strawberry short cake for 300 people. I can totally figure out how much pound cake to make, kind of how much whipped cream to make... but how many pounds of strawberries do I need to buy? I'm trying to price this out before the event (April 19th) to give them enough time to discuss other options... So, strawberries for 300? Thoughts?

I don't know how may strawberries you're going to need because you're not saying how many strawberries you use per cake.

But whatever you figure, you may want to add at least an additional 25-35%

remember that you will not use all of them. The remaining strawberries can be frozen.

Here is my recipe for a quick easy, fresh strawberry filling.

wash and cull the berries, slice them, place the sliced berries into a container. sprinkle with a few spoonfuls of sugar and a few spoonfuls of strawberry Jam or all fruit.

Mix and place in fridge overnight.

The berries will then be in a nice little puddle of strawberry "juice".

make smaller packets , spoon into freezer bags and store untill needed.

I have used these berries to make fillings, sauces and even just thawed over icecream.

Good luck in figuring out what you need.
