Here she is...I learned a lot on this cake. It was worth all the time and effort to hear my daughter scream "Jojo" when she saw the cake!
Jojo is a buttercream transfer. I'm a convert to this method now. I used SquirrelyCakes recipe. For the outline I added cocoa powder and a dab of black color and a little water. It was frozen 3 days and it peeled off perfectly.
Goliath the lion, the "2", and the purple flowers are color flow--Wilton recipe. I did place the flowers on the night before and didn't have any "melting" of the color flow at all. I think it's because the icing was really good and crusted.
The cakes were iced with my dream whip buttercream icing, I call it "Dreamy Cream" now. The cake was DH butter recipe with strawberry jam filling. (Except the wonder mold which was french vanilla, don't try a butter recipe with the wonder mold!) The "big top" is a 6x3 round with a shortened wonder mold, both with cake boards underneath and straws for support. (I finally found a use for my degree in civil engineering, hehe)
My biggest lesson learned is to not underestimate the time needed to prepare, bake, and cool the cakes. I had a day scheduled for this, but thought it would only take a few hours, ha! I don't know how you wedding cake bakers do it! I'm definately getting a second 9x13 pan to save time!
I think that's it, enjoy...

That is a great cake!!!
You can tell you put alot of work into it
Nicole

That is super! I haven't tried it yet either. What is squirrelly's recipe? I haven't seen it around anywhere... just Dawns. Isn't it worth all that time to see your kids be so happy?

PolishMommy --
Your cake is OUTSTANDING. Such detail! I love the flowers on the side. My 3-yr. old daughter saw the picture and had a fit. She loves Jo Jo. You should be very proud. I had heard about the straw method but wasn't sure. But if it's good enough for a civil engineer, then hey, I'm up for it . I'm glad I'm not the only one that takes all day to do a cake. Thanks for sharing such a great cake.

What a cute cake. It makes it all the more special because you made it too. My daughter said one time to me when she was about 6, we were in the local grocery by the bakery, "Mom that poor girl's mom is buying her cake from the store!!!!! I bet it tastes yucky!!!" She tells her boys all the time about the birthday cakes I made her through the years. What memories your making.... Keep it up.

AWESOME!! Can't wait to see your other cakes after you post them in the gallery.

Your cake is great!!!! Would you mind sharing the recipe that you used for the BCT? Once again your cake is great. MC

Your cake turned out awesome! That is very, very nice. I would also be interested in Squirrely's recipe. I have not tried a bct or a fbct yet. I have Dawn's instructions but yet to do one. Would really like to try it but I never have enough time. Maybe when the kids go to school in September, but then I start my new job. Always on the go! Too much to do, too little time!

Thanks for all the compliments. I couldn't have done it without all of you and this website. Thanks for all the ideas and inspiration. Decorating cakes for your children has so many rewards, I couldn't even name them all. The most important is the memories we're making for them!
This was my first real FBCT. I just did one or two small practices before this.
I used 6 straws on the bottom layer and 3 in the middle layer. The tent isn't too big and it didn't need to be moved from the counter where I made it.
As for the writing, I printed it out from the computer. The font is called Curlz MT. I placed it right above where I was going to write and copied it the best I could. I've tried the piping gel method, and I just can't get the detail.
I'll post the recipe from SquirrelyCakes below. I think this recipe takes the coloring really well. And it peels off the wax paper like a dream.

Here's a direct quote from SquirrellyCakes for the recipe and procedure that she uses for FBCT. I'm not sure if I found it here or on the Wilton site. Thank you Squirrelly!
Frozen Buttercream Transfer Recipe--Squirrelly Cakes
I use 1/2 cup butter
1/2 cups shortening
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups of icing sugar
I beat the butter on low until completely softened and add the shortening, again on low. Then I add the vanilla on low. Then I add the icing sugar.
The other thing I do differently, is I let the completed transfer sit for about 25 minutes, then sprinkle some icing sugar on top, then press down vertically, actually a gentle pouncing motion, to get rid of any squiggle worm effect until smooth. Then I put the final coat of icing on top, again wait the 25 minutes and sprinkle on more icining sugar and smooth with fingers again vertically down. Then I carefully smooth over with a spatula. then I sprinkle a bit more icing sugar on top, cover it with parchment paper and bag the whole thing, glass and all and freeze. I tend to freeze these overnight for up to two weeks.

PolishMommy, that's one of the coolest cakes i've seen! You ought to be so proud, job well done!

Great Job!!!! My niece loves jojo, I'll have to consider doing something similar for her.
