I know, I know . . . its not a true Gingerbread House unless its held together by icing . . . but does anyone know if its possible to use hotglue insted??? I'd still decorate with icing . . . but I'm running out of time and gettign really frustrated with royal icing!

As long as no one is going to eat it, that would be fine. But if you even think some one might eat something on it DON'T.

i was just watching the travel channel the other night and they were doing a special on gingerbread decorations and this one baker made a gingerbread tree, the middle was wood but she glued the gingerbread branches to the wood, i don't see why you couldn't use it for a house, she did "hide" the glue with icing so it couldn't be seen.
good luck

If you want to make it entirely edible, but need your house glued together FAST, make a very simple candy. Look up lolipop recipes, hard candy recipes, or just boil sugar and water to the hard ball stage. Dip the edges of your cookie in the melted syrup, quickly and carefully stick the parts together, and a few seconds later you have a solid bond.
