Am I able to use the wilton gel icing food color for hard candy or do I have to buy special candy coloring?

Any food color seems to work. I've used CK gel, Chefmaster gel and paste. Works fine. Heads up on: Be careful adding green. I've added too much and it looks nearly black, don't need much!

We use airbrush colors at work. They work very well and the colors turn out very pretty.

I tried an oil based last night and right away it smelled burnt....
