Why Are Martha Stewart's Cookie Cutters So Expensive?

I'm eyeing some copper snowflake cookie cutters. Lots of places sell sets of three or four different shapes for anywhere between $20 for 3 up to $35 for 4, so WHY are Martha's (retired, is that why?) selling for $60 for 3 on ebay? I don't get it, am I missing something?

I'd say 2 things, one they're retired and that often drives the price up and two they say Martha Stewart on them. Brand names can really drive prices up.

And I'd add that since they are retired, that is the biggest factor in driving the price up. I paid over $50 for the Wilton Mini-Tiered Pan (3-tier wedding cake pans....the whole cake serves about 12-15) on eBay. The pans were discontinued like 20 years ago and retailed back then for around $6. But I can't pick them up at Walmart or Hobby Lobby.

Basic supply and demand.

Another thing is that they are copper. I have found that copper cutters are much more expensive then tin.

Yes, but the other ones I'm talking about are also copper, but about $10 a piece no more than $12 a piece. Metal ones (and they are steel, not tin) are about $1 a piece...

Martha Stewart's are $20 a piece.

I did it, I resisted temptation! I went to Sur La Table and they had a set of three copper snowflake cookie cutters for $19.99. I know they'll probably go on sale next week (and that had a lot), but I need them NOW! Plus, they are normal sized, not those jumbo ones, so it will go with the other two snowflake cutters I have now so that I'll have some assortment of winter flurries!

The temptation I resisted? Spending $150 for 9 cookie cutters on ebay!!! I know, crazy to be tempted, but differently shaped quality cookie cutters are hard to find. Hers are the 4.5 inch size, but I think that's too big for normal cookies.
