I would be past tears!!!!!!!!

I have the professional series Frigidaire and it came with some awesome cleaner that does tend to hide scratches, etc. It's in a very small plastic bottle and they sell it at most Lowe's, Home Depot's, etc. It's white with a black label and just says "Ceramic Cleaner". It's in the cleaner sections at Lowe's or possibly ask someone in the range/cooktop dept.
Good Luck thumbs_up.gif

Sorry, but I think once a glass top stove is scratched, it's scratched! If it's a really bad scratch, I think the glass top can be changed without replacing the entire stove. I know that's a bummer. I've had glass top stove for 4 years and I am very protective of it. I don't like any one other than myself using it! Good luck.

I have the same one. If its scratched its scratched not much you can do but clean it regularly with the creme and like she said it hides them pretty well. About the only thing you can do is replace it and your better off buying a new one rather than doing that. Good Luck.

May I ask how it got scratched? We've had one for almost 15 years and it has no scratches. I started cooking on it when I was in high school. We use Bon ami to clean ours.

My husband was making fudge.. and he scooted the pot across the stove and scratched between the center... It's a black cooktop so it's pretty noticeable... He's never using my stove again.. Then again, what the heck, it's already scratched so why care!

Guess I am lucky in that respect no one in my family will go anywhere near mine. Stands to reason since the wife don't cook and I do all the cooking at home. I feel like George Washington here elected and did'nt want it.

Wow we scoot pots across ours all the time without scratching it.

as long as its not cracked, a scratch is a minor problem. I use 'astonish' to clean mine, it works great so it might help to lessen the appearence of the scratch.

I use creama-brite on mine. I think you can get it at home-depot or lowes. Is the scratch on the actual burner part or in the middle?

The scratch is in the middle so it's very visible! icon_cry.gif

with it being in the middle, I wouldn;t worry about it too much. I know it can cause problems if it is on the actual burner.

I would call the manufacturer to see if just the top can be replaced. I know when my dad was installing cabinets, he dropped a glass cook top while putting it in and had to order another. They may also be able to offer suggestions for a "fix".

HTH

Dawn,

I think you gave me bad luck icon_cry.gif One of my burners just burned out icon_cry.gif

Anyone know the cost to have it replaced?

By the way, I use the SOS Pads and the cleaner that Home Depot sells in the white bottles.

I always thought those were the most beautiful stoves but was afraid to get one because of the scratch problem, real or imagined. I'm so sorry you had this happen. Hopefully, there is a product to help "mend" the area. (I think a new stove top is a bit drastic at this point, the scratch didn't affect the function, did it?)

My mother has a black and white glass cook top stove and she loves it... although she only uses it on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter lol... We all use it and she's always been pretty protective of it until she burnt the burner spot... she over flowed a pan and didn't get to it quick enough and didn't get the spill cleaned up quick enough and it's got a bad scorch ring around that one burner... a few scratches here and there but nothing real bad... she bought the stove at Lowe's and also bought that Ceramic Cleaner stuff from Lowe's it's in a white bottle with a black label. We have strict orders to clean it once a week if we use it often lol... normally they make quick and easy microwave dinners or sandwiches lol so there isn't much cooking.. or they just use the oven instead of the cook top so dad doesn't have to do much cleaning of it with that stuff. Just a general wipe down with a dish cloth. icon_smile.gif The Ceramic Cleaner stuff should work wonders on it. It is a little pricy but it's worth it icon_smile.gif With mom's mess up she was mad but wasn't as mad because she had done it herself...now if one of us "others" did it we'd be dead lmao

Thank You everyone for all your suggestions...My hubby went by Lowe's to buy some cerama brite so I'm anxious to see if it can help...

At this point I wish it would've affected the burner itself and I needed a new stove, but I can't say that it did... It's not even 5 yrs old yet..

Stephanie 214 I am so sorry!

Again.. Thanks to everyone for your replies.. YOU ARE ALL APPRECIATED!
