Budget Of 30 Bucks For Bridal Shower Cake
Decorating By moonlightschild Updated 11 Oct 2007 , 4:39pm by moonlightschild

hi all,
i have a bridal shower to go to and i was asked to do the cake and the budget is $30...its supposed to feed 20 people...
what kind of cake would you do or better yet, would you even do the cake?
thx

oh i know....half of me doesn't want to do it but unfortunately i work with them....the shower is on sunday....

so doing a naughty cake would be out of the question (honest opinions ) i thought about doing that until i was told the price....

OR you could do like a basic 10" (I do charge more than 30 for these though) cake, like you could do a hummingbird, coconut, carrot, cookies and cream, black forrest or even a tennessee stack. I know the ingredients for these are expensive. My basic 10" 3 layer coconut goes for 60.00. BUT you could do just a BC base and put coconut in the layers and not do a 7 minute frosting....Or still yet DO the 7 minute frosting and ice it wavy. It doesn't have to be wrote on or anything. You are basically doing a dessert for 30.00 !!!
HTH

I seriously wouldn't do a naughty cake especially if they didn't ask for one...but if you know the people really well...obviously you do or you wouldn't be doing a cake for 30 right?
Anyways it takes just as much money to do a naughty cake maybe more ifyou do it in fondant.

I don't even turn the oven or my brain on for less than $40, and you are going to get something very basic for that lol!

I can't help but be fascinated by the price differences in different parts of the world!
$30 = approx £15. I might do you half a dozen cupcakes for that... if they were simple ones... and I liked you!
But everyone knows that London, UK prices are ridiculous for just about everything!

I'd figure servings using the Wilton wedding serving chart. The following 2 layer cakes serve at least 20 by there chart: 8" round (24), 8" square (32), 8" heart (22), 9" hexagon (26), 10x7" oval (26). A 9x13 sheet serves about 25 people too.
Do something very basic, if you make something elaborate you'll be known for that and they'll all come to you with a "budget" expecting something special.

I would do a 1/4 sheet made to look like a gift box. Easy, simple and not time consuming. Make the note say congratulations bride to be.
i like the idea of that....they told me that it was up to me what to do...i was just thinking of the naughty cake since that is what some bridal showers have (at least the ones that i had been to) but the gift box...that might be the ticket....

i think i'll just stick to something basic...thanks everyone
