I'm making a cake and using fondant decorations. I purchased some chocolate molds and put the fondant in them. They look great! HOWEVER...I have no clue how to remove the fondant from the molds without breaking the fondant.

HELP!!!!

I figure that if I can't get them out, then I'll forget the fondant and redo them in gumpaste. But I'd rather not.

stick them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. I purchased some silicone molds for fondant and did this. Works like a charm! Just make sure you puth them on some waxed paper to unfreeze before placing them on the cake.

you can also use a thin needle to stick in and pull them out gently.

cool! Thank you so very much for this icon_biggrin.gif. They look great from inside the mold icon_lol.gif. Can't wait to see what they look like on the outside as well.

THANKS!!! I just bought some molds and haven't used them yet, but that was certainly a burning question.

I have chocolate molds too, and wanted to try fondant. Do you have to dust them with cornstarch or grease them first? If you want them colored do you paint them once they're dry?
Thanks for the help.

I dusted mine with cornstarch. I did manage to get one out last night and it looks fine. Maybe a little bit of grease would work better though .

I do plan on painting mine, and adding some lusterdust.

I have a cake supply store that has one whole wall of chocolate molds. That's what I'm using.

missmeg,

I'm in Mass, do you mind telling the name and location of the store? I love finding new cake stores!

Hey Chelle icon_smile.gif

Love your Bosox cake, btw. I did a Bosox cake over the weekend for friends. I can't wait to get a pic of it to share.

The two best places in southern NH for cake stores is Piece O' Cake in Somersworth, and Eatons in Hooksett. I tend to Piece O' Cake, as it's in the otehr area of other shops I go to sometimes.

Best of luck!
