I made a cake today from a recipe I found on line. It was a chocolate cake with candy bar bits mixed in. When I cooled the cake and tried to get it out of the pan, I realized that all of the candy bar bits sunk to the bottom of the pan. I have also had this problem when I try to add chocolate chips to a recipe. Can anyone tell me how to "keep them afloat"? Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert, but my guess would be the thicker your batter the more likely the stuff will stay in the middle. Sorry if this doesn't help, but it's just my guess.

Mix the choco pieces with the dry mix (or flour). That is suppose to prevent what you describe.

I agree w/kakeladi, that's what I do when I add nuts to my mixes just lightly coat them with flour and it prevents them from sinking. I think I even seen contessa do it on foodtv.
