Tres Leches Cake

Is it possible to decorate a tres leches cake with buttercream icing?

Welcome to CC!
I suppose that you could but you wouldn't be able to put nearly as much of the liquid on it so the taste would definitely be affected. You can use the wilton stablized whipped cream recipe(which you can color and pipe basic decorations with) and decorate the top of it in a disposable cake pan.

Tres leches is so good! It's like a light white cake soaked with three milks (condensed milk, evaporate milk and cream). You bake the cake, let it cool and (i poke holes in the cake toget the milk mix in) and then pour as much of the milk mix as the cake will hold. Then I ice the top with a whipped cream icing.

Where's the recipe for Tres Leches Cake? I've never tried it and it sounds yummy! I love trying new things.

I use pastry pride and I never have a problem. If you look at my cakes, the quinceanera cake is a tres leches, all 3 tiers and it lasted until they cut it just fine

I'm sure there are recipes listed in the recipe section. I personally use Emeril's recipe on Food Network's website. I make half the recipe for the cake and keep the same amount of milks for the full recipe. IMO, it tastes best after sitting in the fridge overnight.
I love this recipe so much that it is what I will be making for dessert on Christmas!

I saw one at a party a couple weeks ago that was covered with buttercream. It was awful--leaking all over the floor and melting away--not a pretty sight.

Can't resist dodibug....

"Ralphie, those icicles have been known to kill people!" We always start the holiday season by watching Christmas story on Thanksgiving night! Did you see a guy bought the Ralphie house and made it into a museum about the movie!!! He also sells leg lamps!
Have you guys ever made an order of TLC? Wouldn't it be a hassle because of the need refrigerate it?
It's not that much of a pain. I have a friend that always wants whipped cream icing on her cakes and I just transport the cake in their box in a cooler and it survives with no problems!

I made a tres leches cake last week, is the spaghetti and meatballs cake in my photos, it was gone in minutes, everybody loved it; it was my first time making this kind of cake and it was very good and easy to make I used the recipe that I found here.
