Will A Cookie Press Substitute For A Clay Gun?

Hi Guys!
I was just wondering if anyone has used a Cookie Press for Fondant... I am thinking that it would be able to perform similarly to a clay gun... maybe???

I would also like to know the answer to this question....

Thanks! I think I will try to make some time this weekend to check it out... will report back.

Yes, but be careful! You need to add crisco or microwave for a few seconds to soften the fondant. I broke my first cookie press because the fondant was too stiff and the hole it needed to come out was too small. Also, grease the inside so it will slide out better.

When I was at the dollar store, I bought a play-doh fun factory for $3.00. It comes with two sliding templates total of ten shapes, thought I would give this a try to extrude shapes, if it don't work, not out much money and my grandkids could use it with their play-doh.

I've used the cookie press on several occasions (as well as the playdough toy). I agree that you HAVE to at least nuke it for a few seconds to get it pliable enough to work! I have the electric cookie press, so to get it to work, I have found "goosing" it works best....start, stop, start, stop....
The only trouble with nuking it is that it will dry out faster, so you have to work with it pretty quickly.
Good luck!!!!
