I ran out of regular unsalted butter and have unsalted sweet cream butter in the fridge. Can I use it in place of regular butter in a basic chocolate buttercream recipe? Will it taste normal or will it be even sweeter?

Sorry for the dumb question icon_redface.gif

I always thought they were the same? It's my understanding that it's called sweet butter b/c there is no salt in it. The salt acts as a preservative, so unsalted is more perishable. So long as it's not whipped butter, you should be fine!
