I need to buy a new wardrobe. I'll be in a very conservative, professional environment, and a proper suit is required daily. I hate the way I look with a button-up dress blouse under a blazer, so I was looking for alternatives.

I like the look of this type of blouse under suits, but I can't find them anywhere?! I've tried doing a google search, but that hasn't been very successful since I don't know the proper term.Anyone know?

Anyone have any suggestions on good places to shop for women's suits? I am having the hardest time finding wool suits for women...they all seem to be polyester thumbsdown.gif The only places I've found so far are Banana Republic, Talbot's and a very small handful at Macy's.

I appreciate any advice you can share!

Edited to add (since the picture turned out smaller than I thought it would): the blouse doesn't have buttons or anything in the front, it looks more like a scarf tucked under the blazer...the front neck and sides are "flowy" and the waist appears to be slightly fitted.

I just saw on Oprah today that Vera Wang now has a line at Target called Simply Vera Wang. They are more affordable and available at Kohl's. She had a few suits on the show.

new York & Company ( used to be Lerner) usually has a decent selection of this type of blouse. The wrap style is pretty popular right now, so it should be fairly easy to find them.

I've had goodluck with suits/work clothes at Dress barn. They sell a lot of separates, which I like. My top doesn't match my bottom, if you know what i mean! icon_cool.gif

Thanks for your responses guys!

I don't think the blouse I am looking for is a faux-wrap. It looks more like this, just without such a deep V and without the little camy attachment thing:

Grrr. This is so frustrating! I wish corporate dress options were more readily available for women!! They're all over the place for men, why not for us too? thumbsdown.gif

Any CPAs, Lawyers, Stock Brokers, or Bankers out there? Where do you shop for your suits and blouses?

Are you talking about a cowl-neck top?? Those are the ones that have the flowy part at the neckline.

Last season they had those wrap style tops at Ann Taylor Loft in a lot of different colors. You might be able to find them super cheap, if you live near one.

I would still call it a "wrap blouse" for searching purposes and then weed out the ones that are the traditional style that you are not looking for. Another option is to go ahead and buy the common ones and put your own camisole under it. Also you could try a place like Nordstrom where a personal shopper will help you.

Thanks for your suggestions gals!
I've googled all of the suggested names, and have found a limited few shirts, that with alterations, would compare to the shirt in the first photo. None of them had similar names, though.

I distinctly remember seeing this type of shirt in several stores when I was younger shopping with my mom (in the "grown up" ladies section, lol). But, now I can't find them when I need them. I wish I could blow up the first picture, so you could see it better. It distinctly looks like a collarless form-fitting scarf, not a wrap or a cowl neck, with nothing wrapping each breast like a wrap blouse. Oh well. I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled. And Grr! at Macy's for putting it on their model and not selling it on their site, lol.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Is it maybe a pleated surplice top?

Could well be a surplice (overlapping v-neck). Could also be a scarf blouse, though it really doesn't look like it from the pic. However, it sounds like that's something that would meet your need.

The red one above is a drape-neck sweater with attached cami. I have it. However, a traditional drape-neck doesn't really look much like the white one.

It may well BE just a scarf, FYI. That's not unheard of, and would explain why they're not selling the shirt.
