I actually love listening to bass and drum style (also known as Jungle style) techno while baking and cooking. Kinda odd I guess but what're you gonna do!
Dieselboy is my favorite-- I've been addicted to Flight 643 and Invid lately from his song sets.

I listen to Adventures in Odyssey . . . . it's actually a kids radio drama. I've been listening to it since I was 5 or 6, I'm now 25. I have been buying them on CD, and just listening to them. Different stories about life lessons . . . . . some are HILARIOUS some are serious, mysteries and such. When there is no one else in the house, I usually crank some pretty hard Christian Rock/Metal . . . lots of screaming guys with tatoos and guy-liner! Mostly Disciple, Red and Demon Hunter . . . . it seems I'm the odd duck! But it pumps me up and keeps me positive when I start getting frusterated.

Woo! Happy to see I'm not the only electronica fan.. even if my tastes trend towards eurodisco rather than jungle!

I like to listen to Dashboard Confessional! Or just listen to myself sing whatever pops into my head. I have a music page, but it just has one song on it that I've done. www.myspace.com/bygracemusiconline

Thanks for the replies - glad I'm not the only mad dancing chef on the block! Being from the UK I had no idea what Viva Viagra was so I googled it and just watched it on You tube - see what you mean, very catchy!! All the blokes in the video look like they could do with a bit to get them going for the song......

I've got an "Ultimate Favorites" playlist on iTunes that ranges from Beach Boys to Beastie Boys, CCR to STP, Charlie Daniels Band to Michael Buble. I lean mostly towards 90's rock alternative and college radio, but I'll never get tired of
<------------ Dave. I pull out my 8 disc "The Complete Weekend on the Rocks" for those marathon sessions.

My first raves I ever went to were Jungle raves, so the music style will always have a place in my heart <33

The song I have to play in order to convince myself to get moving is Cookin' By the Book from LazyTown.
LOL
"It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake..."

You know what's funny? I'm renaming/rebranding my business.. and the name I picked is a TOTAL throwback to my raving days! LOL. It's from a catchphrase this one rave DJ used to use all the time. Using another bit of one of his lines as part of my business "tagline". LOL!
I'm half considering adding "reformed candyraver" to my biography as an explanation for my warped sense of design

Being a theater geek as well as a caker, I've usually got show tunes on while I'm decorating. And yes, I do sing. Loud

If you are going to sing... sing loud.
Rachel

Cambo--I often find myself humming that male enhancement tune too!! Not only when decorating though--imagine my chagrine when I noticed I was humming it at church while we decorated for a party there! I may never live it down, but heck it sure is catchy!
haha.. that's very funny, but I think I would have told them no, I was just humming viva las vegas. Unless there's another song I'm not aware of, then I guess that wouldn't work.. heh
Myself, I prefer oldies music for some reason. Janis Joplin and The Beatles being two of my favorites. I get made fun of a lot for that, for some reason. I also will put Dead Can Dance in every once in a while, depending on my mood. Mostly it's just the classic rock station on the radio, if I don't want to hear something specific.

Okay, I'm proud to be the first one to choose this particular genre of music, CHRISTMAS!!!! Yeah! Christmas! When I was a kid that's what I always listened to when I was in the kitchen making cookies and stuff. It kinda stuck with me as an adult and I LOVE to drive DH and the kids crazy with it all year round. I found that I do my best work with the old songs from the 40's and 50's, like Bing Crosby and so on.

Yay! Someone else with showtunes! My fave at the moment is Avenue Q, but can't listen to it when the kiddies are around

Okay, you're probably ALL going to think I'm weird, but I love to throw in the soundtrack from Star Wars....

Of course, otherwise, its country music.

Hehe you guys are too funny! Oh no I got a crumb in the icing (this is where the dark side theme song comes in)! Ah yes, and when the cake is compete the song that fits is the song from the award ceremony at the end of A New Hope!
Anyway, I really like christian music so when I am decorating I get out my ipod and crankup either ZOEgirl or the Newsboys. ZOEgirl is great because they have a nice combo between soft relaxing music and fun upbeat songs... and the Newsboys... gotta love the quirky songs from "Shine the hits" CD!

Does anyone else have those music channels on their cable tv?
I found those one night when I was flipping, surprise to me, no wonder the cable bill is horrible. Anyway, I started listing to the gospel channel, and just went with it. I ended up with a pretty nice cake at the end of it. Then I flipped the channel to the showtunes for the next cake. lol.
Those channels are now my favorites. My husband asks in the morning why the tv is always on the 500 channel section.. until he realizes theres a finished cake. lol

Hubby put some speakers in the kitchen for me so now i get to listen when decorating - before - nothing but silence!!!! We have them hooked up to the computer so i have a few itunes lists i like to listen to.
recently i've been HOOKED on toby mac (christian hip-hop/rock)... just got two new cd's and they ROCK!!!!! going to his concert in columbus in october- SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!
i also sprinkled in a few fiona apple, cold play and will smith songs to my playlist. makes for an enjoyable evening!

I love Billy Joel's greatest hits too!!! I made a list of baking-related songs that motivate me with MP3 links (Cherry Pie by Warrant, Cream by Prince, etc). Check it out: http://www.simplyoldschoolcooking.com/songs-to-bake-to.html
