I'd like to make an eyeball cake for my father who just had eye surgery. The closest to eyeball-shaped pan I've got is a Wilton football pan. I DO have some Pyrex ovenware bowls. I'm eyeballing (pun!) the two-quart bowl and wondering if I can bake the cake in it. Does anyone do this? Got any tips/help? Thanks!

I've done this before. It takes forever to bake, and I usually cover the top with foil about halfway thru because it will get very crunchy by the time the middle is done.

you will need to grease it really well and line with parchment/ possible will take less time as the glass gets so hot and have a crustier exterior/ goodluck.

Does the parchment help it be less crusty? I've never lined mine with anything. I thought the paper would wrinkle and make it not look so round. If the parchment will make it less crusty, I may try that!

I've used my pyrex bowl several times for cakes. One thing you can do to help the middle back a bit quicker is to put a flower nail in the middle, or if you have a core (like the one that comes with the 3D bear) you can use it.

Good luck!

I grease the bowl, and line it with waxed paper or parchment paper. Measure from the center of the pyrex dish to the edge of the bowl plus a few more inches. Cut the circle, then fold the circle in quarters. From there cut into the circle towards the center every inch or so. that makes it fit in the bowl better. I also lay a piece of foil over the top of the pan about halfway through. When it comes to temperature if it says 350 I lower it to 325 as it keeps the cake from browing and crusting on the bottom. As every one else has stated it takes for ever may take 1 1/2 or 2 hours to cook your cake as it depends on where you live and the humidty. Hope this helps and is not confusing. Good Luck
