Just returned from Wally World and was standing at the Deli, which in my Supercenter is next to the Bakery and I noticed a sign, half hidden behind the wedding cake / party planner book. It had 3 cake designs on it the stand up doll/barbie cake a two layer spiderman cake and a football theme cake. The words Custom Cakes was sprawled across the top in curly letters and hand written in a sharpie was the price of $34.47. I tried to take a picture of the sign with my phone, but it didn't turn out and I did not want to get caught cake snooping too much. Has anyone else seen this sign at their Wal-Mart? icon_confused.gif

Anyways next time some one complains about our cake prices, we can direct them to Wal-Marts custom cakes at $34.47. These cakes were by no means the caliber of what I have seen here, basically they appeared to a stepped up version of their normal cakes.

I love Sylvia Weinstock's quote in her book that goes something like this: (loosely paraphrased)

"There is nothing made anywhere that some man cannot make more cheaply or worse, and people whose only consideration is price are this man's lawful prey" As my DH says, ya get what ya pay for.

When anyone says "I can get it at WM for a buck a slice." My immediate thought is this: I don't consider WM to be my.....peer group....in the cake decorating business. They kick butt on pricing, though; I'll give them that. icon_confused.gif

I'd have loved to seen you trying to sneak a photo of their sign LOL[/i]
