Does anyone know if there is an actual heart shaped pan that is contoured for a rounded look rather than the flat bottom pan? I have seen so many beautiful heart shaped cakes and can't figure out if the shape came from the pan or from sculpting. I am including an example of a picture I found on www.artcake.ru. I e-mailed her and asked about it, but i don't think she speaks english - I am not sure what her language is. Okay, I will admit, I intend to use it to make a "butt" shaped cake - very tastefully done, of course, but I would ALSO use it to make heart cakes. Promise!

That is too cute.

Wilton makes a puffed heart pan. I'll bet, with the cake domed a bit after baking, you could get the effect you need by turning the cake over and using the dome to build up the heart.

For example, when I use the 3D car pan, I cut off the dome and put it on the flat top of the car to make it look like a VW bug. Same idea.

Thanks leahs! I looked on e-bay and found the pan you are referring to - it is retired. Although it might be easier, like you suggested, to carve the dome. I might be able to get a better, more rounded shape. hehehe

Look forward to seeing pics of yours. icon_cool.gifthumbs_up.gif

(Wish my butt looked like that, instead of the back end of a Mack truck.) icon_cry.gificon_lol.gif

I bet it is the Wilton Puffed Heart pan just like Leahs said. In fact I'm going to be baking that today for a rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding. I won't be doing the butt thing though. icon_smile.gif

Ok, sweetviolent! Now THAT is a BUTT! I can almost hear my little girl singing "I like big butts and I cannot lie" while she giggles that naughty little giggle. Good thing she is in school!!! That is a GREAT idea to use the half ball pan. That sound like it would be pretty easy. OH, and for the "sound effect" part of your cake . . . I can almost hear that too! That is TOO funny!
