I made it and trimmed the tops off. I had my husband taste it and his face was like yuck!!! icon_redface.gif He said it tasted like pretzels. I have to agree with him. I tried putting caramel filling in it to dr. it up a little. We shall taste it tonight. Have you all had this experience with this flavour? And are there any other flavours I should watch out for? TIA

I haven't tried it plain but I use it to make an italian cream cake. I add maybe a cup of coconut and chopped pecans and ice it with cream cheese frosting. It's pretty good that way. My in laws like it alot and they don't normally like cake.

I LOVE butter pecan ice cream and when I saw it in a cake mix I bought it and made it. It was delicious! On the other hand my DH hates it and he didn't like the cake either. We were split with the kids also.

Now this is just my opinion, but I have tried this several ways, several times!! Everytime, I get the same response from the people who try the cake...gross....but that might just be us..

I haven't found much luck with this cake...

I make that one a lot. It does not taste good warm. I make it, and fill it with the butter pecan mousse recipe from this site and frost with cream cheese frosting. It is very yummy.

Betty Crocker's Butter Pecan is now my family's favorite cake. I, however, don't make it anything like the directions indicate (I did that once and thought it was pretty lifeless). I use buttermilk instead of water, 4 eggs, 1/3 cup oil, 2 tsp. of french vanilla extract, and 1/2 box of french vanilla pudding. Acutally, I change it so much, I feel pretty justified in declaring it "not a box mix". I ice it with maple buttercream (using real maple extract, 1/2 butter-1/2 crisco) and all I can say is YUMMMMMM!

I'm going to try their cinnamon swirl mix next!

I love BC Butter Pecan cake!! When I can talk my customers into being brave enough to order it, they always love it. It also smells sooooo good when it's baking!!

Rae ... your recipe sounds FABULOUS!!! I'm going to try making it your way the next time I make it!!! icon_smile.gifthumbs_up.gif

The cinnamon swirl mix is wonderful, too, especially with a crumble topping!! icon_smile.gif
