I have an order for 200 mini cupcakes for a scrapbook store's birthday party. They also ordered a cake which is not a problem. Half of the cupcakes will be vanilla and the other half will be chocolate. The store's colors are red and white and their theme is medical related (it's called Scrapbook 911). I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a unique idea to decorate the tops of the mini cupcakes. Something simple since they are small but something cute. I'm thinking I would use a start tip to swirl the icing on the tops but am open to other ideas.

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh and I'm not sure how much to charge for the mini cc's. Do I charge half of what I'd charge for a full size? Still sounds like too much for a mini. Any ideas on that?

I don't know about the medical 911 theme. but since it is small I thought about a simple rosebud on each one. I have no clue on price.

Well, it IS Autumn, so maybe some of them could be decorated like that. I just made mini cupcakes for an event and frosted them with medium orange buttercream. I took fondant and divided it into four smaller pieces. I tinted one green, one yellow, one brown, and one orange, but not so they were solidly colored...more like marbeled. Then i took a still smaller piece from each of the colored pieces and kind of smooshed them together lightly and marbled them...rolled them out and then cut out different leaf shapes. I used a toothpick to put the veining in. Little tiny pumkins and corn on the cob with the husks still on are also ideas. You could pipe on tiny leaves and vines. Another idea would be to do a smoth white top out of fondant or buttercream and make a tiny telephone (911) or something like that. You could also do a white buttercream with plain red polka dots. Another idea is to take them out of the paper cups and pour ganache over them...really shiny and pretty and impressive. Small red or white roses, polka dots, or hearts, etcs. looks nice on the ganache. As for pricing, I think minis are almost as much work as regular size cupcakes...they seem to take just as long to decorate anyway. I cut the price in half and knock off another quarter. You can always look online for prices at bakeries near you so you know if you are in the ballpark on your pricing. Good luck!

Since the colors are red and white and the theme Scrapbook 911, how about icing them in white and putting the Red Cross symbol (cut from fondant) on each?

medical:
> the traditional "red cross" on white background
> 911 (or SB911) on each (take off on their name) (some red on white others white on red)
-------
> little balloons cut out from fondant
> confetti and little fondant streamers
