My nut grinder question has me wondering about grating chocolate too. Several recipes I have too ask for grated choclolate - like those itsy bitsy pieces, not curls.

Things I have used: hand held cheese grater (the one with the crank handle). Works great until the chunk of chocolate is getting small and then it slips and slides along the disk and I waste a lot of chocolate that way. My food processor has a fine grater and same thing - a good bit doesn't get grated and/or it gets stuck in the machine and I have to dig it out before I can continue (machine jams).

I've used a good old traditional grater and I grate my knuckes too much for comfort! LOL Though it does seem to do the job, messy as it is. However, it also melts in my hands and I probably waste a good bit too even when I'm using something the hold the chocolate.

Is there some magical tool I'm missing? LOL

Melissa

Have you tried a Salad Shooter. I use it to grind cheese all the time.
