Can someone tell me what ingredients are in Wilton butter flavor? I am trying to figure out where I went wrong in a recipe and this would really help me a lot!
Thanks!! Brittany

Thanks a lot! I tried to make MMF, and put in another brand (same ingredients as Wiltons) and it made a clumpy mess (just where the butter flavoring went, not in general). I can't figure it out! HMMMMm, I think I will try again with a different flavor.

weird. have you made it before with the wilton? I made 2 batches and it came out ok...

I wonder why the other brand was so different?

I have not made it with the wilton before. I was baffled myself. I just made it again without the butter flavor (vanilla instead), and it came out perfect. So, here is what I did.

I made the MMF Recipe according to the tutorial on the website. This tutorial suggests putting 1 16oz bag of marshmellows, 2 TBwater, and 2 teas. flavoring (I used McCormick Butter, which has the exact ingredients as Wilton) in the micro and zapping it for 30 seconds, zap again, stir, repeat. Pour MM into 2 pounds sugar. Any ideas what went wrong?

no. maybe you can try adding your flavoring after you've melted the marshmallows? I make small batches like this:

1 c. mini marshmallows
1 T. water

zap for 40 sec. stir till smooth. add flavoring (vanilla or butter) and americolor gels if desired.

stir in 1 c. powdered sugar with a spoon. stir as much of another cup then knead with hands...

Thanks so much cryssi! I tried adding the butter flavor after it was heated, rather than before, and it worked like a charm. I went back and read the tutorial just to make sure that I had not missed anything, but it does say to add the flavoring before microwaving. I think it works better when you do it after. Thanks again!!
