I grew up with dogs all my life but it amazes me how much people adore their pets!!! It's a good thing. I am in the middle of a portrait.....of a dog!!!! I was commissioned to paint this as a birthday gift....and it's not exactly cheap!!!
A dog is very lucky to have owners that love it so much...good luck with the cake!

Thanks!
I will let you know how it turns out. and I guess post a pic!!!
It's still a few weeks away.
My mom was wanting some recipes for her cocker spaniel, she'll be 14 on 10/31/06 and has become very picky with what she eats, lol! So...I wonder what else is out there besides cake recipes!!
Good luck with the painting!!

I was going to PM you with a "doggie cookbook" that I bought off ebay for somewhere between $1 and $3, but I think I may have accidentally deleted it! Ahk. It was worth it, if you are actually wanting to bake fun things for dogs and have the recipes contained in one place.
But there are TONS of recipes out there. My pup's (ok, it's my favorite b/c it's soooo easy to make, is from the Three Dog Bakery - Peanut Butter treats. If you search with that, it will pop up. There's only like 4 ingredients and they're super fast to make. The dogs drooooool for them.
It fun to bake when the recipient has no control over their reaction to the goodie.... hee hee! Sometimes I think my dog appreciates my baking (dog safe stuff only!) more than people appreciate cakes. LOL.

I found that easy treat recipe:

I own a Gourmet Dog Treat business and here is a recipe that is highly popular with the local residents (Well, their Dogs, anyway! LOL!!):
Remi's Party Cake
2/3 cup ripe mashed bananas
1/2 cup softened butter
3 large eggs
3/4 cup water
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
water.
Beat well. Stir in dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Add nuts and raisins. Spoobatter evenly into oiled and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
Cool on wire rack 5 minutes, remove from pan, replace on rack and cool.
Optional Frosting
2 cup mashed banana
1 Tblsp butter
6 Tblsp carob powder
2 tsp vanilla
3 Tblsp whole wheat flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
Blend thoroughly and spread on cool cake. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. The frosting contains carob, which is a safe (almost tastes like) chocolate substitute.
Have fun!!
