What are the rules for a rehearsal dinner cake?? What is it supposed to be?? They are serving Italian food. Couple's interests are camping, kayaking and golf. Bride said no to a kayak, she works at a country club and is tired of golf - I just don't know what to do icon_cry.gif What are some ideas for a cake? Do you make a funny cake, a serious cake or what??

The rehearsal dinner cake I made (in my pics) was made as a replica of the wedding invitations. The bride and groom got a kick out of it.

dodibug, that is a very pretty cake!! You do great work. That is a splendid idea about the invites, but their invitation is plain. Beautiful paper, but nothing but the wording on it - no folds, no ribbon, no embellishments. Thank you though, since I did get to see one more beautiful cake! thumbs_up.gif

icon_redface.gif awww, thanks!

What about using the colors of their wedding and making some simple cut out fondant flowers and scrolls and vines. That always looks elegant and pretty for summer.

Or you could make a tent out of gumpaste and make a little camping scene. Little campfire, etc and then around the bottom of the cake use candy or fondant rocks, some grass, that kind of thing.

I love the upside down hearts made into the bride and groom, I guess it's more like the wedding dress and tux. I know there are some here on cc, just not sure who has done them.

Yes Grannie, that's what I would do too. The bride and groom cakes. I made a different bride and groom cake. They are in my photos. They are actually alot of fun to make.

I have two grooms cakes in my photos that might give you an idea. The cake is covered with fudge and pecans and topped with grapes. You could use german chocolate icing instead of fudge. I think the grapes would go well with the Itialian dinner.

Great ideas! I made the bride and groom's cakes for their bridal shower. He is my nephew. The cakes matched the plates and napkins. I posted them in my pics - please remember I am VERY new to this when you view!

Ok here I go with my wierd Ideas. You said they are outdoorsy. what about a 1/2 sheet, Camping scene. You could put a tent ( or maybe two if more appropriate) the A framed kind made out of fondant with two pairs of feet hanging out of it . and just infront of the tents you could have a river and bank with two Kyaks beached. If you wanted you could add trees and bushes, grass and maybe sone little critters (or even Eyes of little critters checking out the tent.)

That's all I can think of now.

Love it all!!! Tent: 50-50 gumpaste and fondant dried at an angle???
Do you think Grandmas would like all the feet in one tent? icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Thanks for all the great ideas! Can't wait to discuss them with the couple! Anymore ideas??

Hope you all have sweet cake dreams tonight icon_smile.gif

I'd say yes to the 50/50 fondant/gumpaste. Cut into a rectangle. And dried. Then put them together into a triangle.

Oh Grandma.......icon_smile.gif That's why I said or two tents, if more appropriate (I don't know about kids these days.)

For the river (if you want that) you can use edible rocks with white frosting around them like rapids.

MMMMM Sweet cake dreams, I'm doing a wedding cake for tomarrow the last thing I want to think about right now is sweet cake (maybe savory).

Have a good night.

CourtneysCustomCakes, you crack me up! icon_lol.gif
Maybe they could have their arms extended out from each individual tent and be holding hands icon_lol.gif
