I finally sprang for the professional Wilton turntable at Michaels yesterday, and after putting it together, it wobbles! Has anyone else run into this problem? I tried setting a heavy bowl in the center thinking the weight might make a difference, but there's still a good 1/4" wobble. That's all I need when I'm decorating! I'm taking it back tomorrow. Any recommendations on another brand?

I recently bought one too.....wish now I hadn't. I am disapointed with how it wobbles. And when you pay that much $$$ for one.

Mine does the same darn thing. Drives me nuts! I'm watching to see if there is another one out there.

Oh goodness! I wish you had seen some previous threads about this before you invested your money. I think most of us were in agreement that this is a worthless piece of "you know what". Sad part is that it is not a cheap item to buy. My daughter gave me mine for Christmas one year and I gave it back to her after trying to use it a couple of times. Good way to end up with your cake in the floor!!! icon_mad.gif

My best advice is to take it back as quickly as you can. icon_lol.gif

Don't have a good recommendation for what else to buy. I just use a plain old Rubbermaid turntable.

Must it be tilting? I just use a good old Lazy Susan for my cakes. If I need to do side work, I just set it on top of a sturdy bucket or fondant pail to give it more height.

Thanks for letting us know. I was actually eyeing one of those. I have the Wilton tilt turntable and turn n' trim, they do their jobs well and have not had any toe curling experience with them.

Oh no! No tilting turntables! I just thought I was moving up from my lazy susan to a heavy steel, smooth gliding pedestal. The lazy susan was fine, I just got tired of adjusting the height and keeping it sturdy. Gee, I hope Michaels will give me my coupon back!

Does anyone know where I can find a tilting turntable? I purchased the wilton tilting turntable.
I am not very comfortable using it. I am afraid the floor will be wearing my cake. Is this the same one you guys bought? I may have to carry mine back to the store also.

I was just looking at turntables! Here is a link. Don't know how they are, but I like the rectangle magic line!
I have the tilting Wilton, it does wobble.

good luck. I don't shop at Micheal's now that there is a Hobby Lobby in Houma. I could've died and gone to heaven when I saw that.

Wow, those Magic Line ones make my mouth water! But right now I couldn't justify spending the big bucks. It just seems there should be some way to build one of these for a small amount of money - maybe one that the top could be interchangeable between the rectangle and circle. If anyone has ideas, please post. I'll talk to my husband and my neighbor who is a master welder. Maybe we can put together a Cake Central turntable plan that we could all use. (Then we can use all the money we save to buy more books, mixers, tools, etc....!)

I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THE ATECO STAINLESS TURNTABLE I HAVE ONE AND THEN I ALSO USE THEM AT WORK AND THE AMOUNT OF CAKES THOSE THINGS SEE IS INCREDIBLE AND ALL I HAVE TO DO IS KEEP THEM GREASED AND THEY SPIN SMOOTHLY, A LITTLE PRICEY BUT WELL WORTH THE MONEY

I despise my Wilton Tilting Turntable...what a piece of crapola! I really wish I had kept the box/receipt/etc so I could take the hunk of junk back! It scared the bejeezes out of me a couple of times when it just decided to tilt on it's own...locking in place my patooie!

I recently bought a plain ol' wooden lazy susan from Walmart that has been more then adequate, so the Wilton thingie is just holding VERY LIGHT things...like my fondant figure that I'm working on right now...and it held my rubbermaid container when I was piping a tiara, but that's all I dare to put on it anymore. I only had to catch my cake once to lose my faith in Wilton's ability to make a trustworthy turntable (The cake was fine, btw icon_razz.gif)!

interesting -- I bought the wilton version of the ateco steel and cast iron base turntable about 5 years ago...

and never a wobble problem.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times.
Wilton = crap.

Yep, I have the same turntable, wobbly, not level, piece of junk. Last night I nearly lost my 6 layer cake if I didn't catch it. Won't be using that again. I'm glad I got it 50% off but still....
