OK, I know some of you might think this a bit not politically correct. But this was for a fun-loving couple that was having a couples BBQ/Baby Shower. And if anybody, they would appreciate this idea, they would. Which they totally LOVED. He is a lover of Bonsai trees and Pabst. A true "Renaissance man"... And they knew they were having a girl.
Hope you like it.

You did a great job! But

WHAT THE HELL!!! I hope I don't get in trouble for saying that. What's up with that huge baby? I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just trying to comprend if there is a reason behind why it's so big and her feet! I'm sitting here crying right now.

Like I said you did a great decorating job!

ohh, thank you so much for explaining this truly, uh, unique cake. It's definetley not your average baby shower cake, but if the couple's personality fits, why not?

haha, laughing with you. I was intentially going for a big head, feet sticking out of the blanket, for that cute but funny look. But yeah, the feet did turn out a bit "flintsonish" but, you know how you make parts, and then realize that the proportions get all messed up? Well, I just lived with it. One thing that bothered me is the off-center of the baby. I centered the body first, and realized the head was much bigger, but then it was too late to move it over with out wrecking the grates.
No worries, I figured I would get comments like this. I was just trying to expand the cake creativity, or (caketivity) Hey can I have Webster put that into the dictionary? I just didn't want to do an ordinary, baby diaper, blocks, lt. blue, white, pink, cutesy baby shower cake.

I just have to say that the creativity is renowned, but I was a bit disturbed when I say the size of the feet. It left me with a couple of shivers down my spine. icon_wink.gif

Great job with the decorating and the uniqueness of this cake. Can't wait to see what you come up with next time. thumbs_up.gif

I don't know, I think if the baby would have been realistic you might have gotten some disturbed looks. Or more than you did. It's unique and fit into the theme well enough. I do love the tree and bottles they turned out great.

I didn't want to put the other arm in there , either she would look dead, or surrendering, Yeah, it's not anatomically correct.. it's supposed to be a humorous take at a representation. I wasn't going for ultra-realism, but at least something representational that at least you would get the "visual pun".

Well this cake could be a wonderful anti drinking ad. I mean really. Don't drink and BBQ you may put the baby on the BBQ. Don't drink while your pregnant. This is what your baby will look like. icon_lol.gif

Gracias senorita, mi espanol es muy malo, pero gusto que tu hablas. Si, I did think of those cosas that, beber y, la nina, grilling the baby, and such could offend some. but like I said they were all young couples, eyeryone got a kick out of it, a few needed explaining, some asked how it was made, and those that like cake at least said that it tasted good. A couple w/kids said that I should charge a lot for this, and that they just spent a fortune on their daughter's B-day cake that just decorated "plain". And to attest to that, here's a photo of the dad, eating his daughter's cabeza.

So, in all, the reason I like designing cakes, is that I get to be creative, and make something that others will enjoy, and have it taste good as well.
Seeing the amazement at "How did I do that" and having an empty cakeboard is more thanks than the price of the cake itself.

What the hell again!!!

Uh Uh! He looks like he's eating a baby!! I forgot to say in my fist reply that you definetly captured how those 10 lb. babies look when they're born; all thick and stuffed and puffed and tight in the face looking. If this wasn't so funny, I would be crying right now; but I don't know why.

reading all the replies just has me in stitches. this is silly funny...that last picture is even crazier. that baby looks like its being birthed out of the dads mouth. the expression is classic. (i'm a labor and delivery nurse so i've seen it a few times). keep creating unique pieces of art!

OK, so maybe I don't have the sense of humor that my family and friends say I do because I find it all a bit disturbing.

I with ya butternut... I think each section of the cake turned out nicely but putting them together just sends an odd message.... and him eating the face like that.... just I dunno... but I did want to say you did a nice job on everything just combining them... I wasn't expecting that when I opened this message lol.
