Has anyone made this recipe? It calls for a cup of mayonaise...was wondering if I should try it?

Yes, it's yummy! Sounds weird but I think they came out with it during the depression when butter/etc was not so readily available..... it is oil & eggs - just don't use Miracle Whip!! LOL!!!! My cousin did it with MW and we were gagging - oy! It was dreadful. icon_surprised.gif

My granddad used to make a recipe just like this. The mayonnaise made it moist and delicious.. no taste of mayonnaise in case you were worried lol. I would definitely give it a try. Plus, I don't think I've ever made anything from that book that everyone didn't love.

If any of you have Dukes Mayo, theres is a Chocolate Cake recipe on there. It calls for 1 cup of mayo.

I have not tried it, but I am going to save it and try it later.

Let me know if anyone would like this recipe.

Off the subject just a tad, but the buttermilk chocolate cake is great also, made a batch of cupcakes and they were awesome!
