






I have kept piping gel for a couple of years. I never tasted it, though, I don't think it is supposed to be tangy. Look at the ingredients to see if it contains anything that would seem to taste that way.
As long as you keep foreign substances out of it, it should last. I always use a clean spatula in mine.

Just a note: you can also use light corn syrup (Caro for example) in the place of . Learned that from someone here at CC.
Actually I believe it is Glycose that the light corn syrup is a sub for.

Interesting that I find this topic. I just the other day opened up my tub of Wilton piping gel. I have had it for about 4 years. YUCK I know!!! It had an amber color to it. It wasn't clear at all to begin with when I bought it but it has darkened quite a bit over the last few years.
What is the best brand of piping gel to have?
