hi everyone, im glynis and new to this site, and so glad i did, its wonderful and helped me out already and i only registered yesterday.
anyway i need to make/decorate a cake with a Bratz doll theme, but havent a clue where to start, im very new to cake making/decorating, so any help with this would be greatly appreciated
ps, i have to have this cake ready for monday........................
I almost had to do one last month but the little girl changed her mind. I went to the Bratz web site and found some coloring pages that you can print out. I was going to trace one of the those on to the cake and then girl it up a bit with some fun colors and shapes and maybe even a cake purse nearby like the ones in the gallery. I hope that helps! I did a Bratz cake - very full and brightly colored lips. I bought the pan, but you could easily sculpt them from a sheet cake. Draw the lips onto newspaper and cut out. Lay onto the sheet cake and cut around, then use your knife to round the edges and make the indentation where the upper and lower lips meet. Decorate in bright red or pink.
I did one of these a few years back.. Just when the dolls first came out, before they had all the stuff they do now.
I scanned a photo from a doll box, then blew it up and printed it. I then made a color flow of the picture and put that on the cake, placing wax paper underneath so it wouldn't break down on the buttercream icing. It turned out very well.
However, now I know about frozen buttercream transfers, and think that would probably be a good thing to do, whether it's a whole picture, or just of one of the dolls itself.
I'm pretty sure you can find instructions on how to do it, if you don't know already, on this site. There are a ton of helpful people here that will answer your questions, if you have any.
