Has anyone used the Wilton Color Mist Food Color Spray? Can you use it on Fondant and buttercream? Would like to see how you used it, any pictures posted?

Personally I don't like using it. I've tried it once and won't use it again.
I tried it on buttercream and after it is sprayed it drips down and doesn't leave an even color, I had to almost use a whole can just on one layer.
And you have to keep cleaning the nozzle or else it will get clogged pretty quickly.
Some people do have luck with it, but test it out before you decide what to do.
HTH

I've used it on buttercream, but beware... don't hold it in one spot too long, it puddles and makes it darker in spots. Example on the link below. It was easier to use on cupcakes because I didn't have such a big area to cover. I don't know how or if it would work on fondant, probably not. It think it would just run on the fondant. HTH.

I've used it twice - once on bc (my first b-day cake)and once on fondant (the 4th of July had). I don't have an airbrush so I wanted to give it a try. It worked OK - but it did take a lot to get the color you want. And, it is very messy so if you are going to use it - make sure to lay newspaper donw all over!!! and I mean all over. The mist goes everywhere. But, it can be used successfully.
Now, I don't use it anymore - I'm more into hand painting when I need color.
Good luck.

I love Color mists! You kinda have to practice with it to get it right! I have a few in my photos that I've used it on.... *Moonlit Garden, * Blue Guitar, *Cupcakes
I LOVED how it worked for me on the Moonlit Garden cake. But, with the fondant on the guitar my MOM did it and I don't think she knew how to use it well and she made it kind of runny and we were in a hurry.

Click in my fotos. The motorcycle cake was colored with red and yellow wilton spray. It is on fondant and it worked great for me.
Shake really well and then start spraying off the cake and then finish off the cake as well to avoid drips. hth

I've used the Wilton sprays. I really don't like them, but I'lll use them in a pinch until i can save up for an airbrush. You have to be careful to apply alot of light coats b/c it has a tendency to run as others have mentioned. Oh yeah, and the blotches.
I sprayed the two mother's day cakes I made in May and I'm STILL finding green mist all over when i clean

I've used color mist a few times, and I like it. It does require a little practice first so you can get used to how it sprays. I used it on this cake below. I sprayed the buttercream blue (lightly) for a cloud/sky effect and the fondant butterflies and flowers are also sprayed with colormist. The details are royal icing. I like the way it came out on the fondant...nice and bright. This pic is also in my photos if you might want to see it more up close.
I've never heard that it tasted minty...but I didn't actually eat any of the cakes I used it on!
