how many cups is 2 lbs sifted conf. sugar??? and its 2 lbs AFTER its sifted right?? or 2 lbs and THEN u sift??? this is the only thing im totally confused by

2lbs after sifting and 2lbs before sifting should be the same weight.

oh yea, didn't think about that...got confused cause had to deal with sifting, but it was cups and not lbs....but i still dont kno how many cups equals 2 lbs

I would think it would be the same weight also, but I always use an electric kitchen scale to weigh stuff.
Yep if it says 2lbs sifted confectioners sugar, you sift it first then weigh it. If it says 2lbs confectioners sugar sifted, then you would weigh first then sift.
I actually worked this out once. So hopefully it will be of help. If it says 2lbs, it's best to weigh it, and not just use 8 cups. Powdered sugar is a dry ingredient, not liquid so it doesn't really follow the idea of 16 oz = 1 lb or 32oz = 2lbs.
From measuring out 8 cups of confectioners sugar, and then weighing it, the total weight was 1lbs 14 3/8oz -(860 grams)
So that means if you only use 8 cups, you will be 1 5/8 oz shy of 2 lbs.

yay! thank u guys! now i can get my icing done, ice my cake and go to sleeeeeeeeeeep. this site is such a lifesaver!
