How much cocoa powder or melted chocolate chips would I add to a white cake mix to make a chocolate cake?

When I made my 50th anniversary cake last week, the price matrix said I would need 12 cake mixes. Well.....I only used 7 icon_mad.gif and would like to convert them to chocolate for my daughter's birthday cake and cupcakes. This can be done, can't it?

Is it something like 3/4 cup of cocoa powder? Anything else I need to know?

I used 1 small box per cake mix...the big box would probably work for 2 mixes. You might add a little cocoa powder too.

I added butterscotch to a white cake. It was great. I add banana to yellow mix all the time, and it is great! I added cheesecake to yellow too. Itwas good!

When you add the pudding to the cake mix, do you need to add an extra egg or water? Please ASAP, got the mix in the mixer. icon_redface.gif

It may be too late for Marknrox but I also would like to know if you need to adjust other ingredients if you just want to add a box of pudding to the cake mix.

Thanks,
Cindy

I don't add anything extra when I do this but I do sub the water with milk.

I know some people do add an extra egg and some sub the water with chocolate milk.
