HELP!!! I am doing a wedding this weekend that will include a cupcake tree. My idea of using masonite boards and styrofoam dummies has failed miserably!!!! Does anyone have any ideas for original cupcake stands??? Something elegant, dressy...maybe like a plant stand they used, or something besides the disposable cardboard ones????

PLEASE HELP!!! I am desperate and kicking myself for putting it off like this!!! I am SO not a procrastinator, I was just so sure my idea would work that I didn't try it until today...BIG oops. icon_sad.gif

do you have any cake stands like the floating ones.
I have seen one done with the round boards and nice decorated coffee mugs to use in between or some of those hurrican candle tube lanterns from Micheals or the dollar store. I have been racking my brain fora cupcake stand that is different for 150 cupcakes. I bought myself a 4 tier buffet server at Costco for $21 thought it would be neat as a cupcake stand it all in 1 piece and you just place the levels where you want them. It came with plates but I want to put something flatter onto it. I was going to try the plastic separater plates. I'll let you know if I can come up with something else.

How about filling wine glasses with glass marbles and using them as seperators with clear plastic plates? Would that hold up?

I bought those cardboard ones, and hot glued cake board ruffles along the edges. They turned out pretty nice!

My DH made the one in my pics, which I love.

I don't know how many cupcakes you need to hold, but I have seen someone use round pieces of glass (the ones you buy to go on top of side tables work well for something fast - with more time you would have them cut at a glass shop) in different sizes separated by really pretty flower pots and other separated by what looked like fish bowls.

I love the wine glass idea!

If you're wanting to use a plant stand this is a great time of year as they are clearancing out the garden center in many stores. Also, get on HobbyLobby.com and print you out some coupons! (40% off any 1 item this week) Make several trips if need be, might even look in the wood department for a plant shelf! They also carry the wilton cupcake stands and the new cakes in more stand!

You didn't say...how many cupcakes are we talking about?

What great ideas!! Thanks to all of you for your time and thoughts!!

I DO have a floating cake stand, which I think will probably be the winner. Sharon, your plant stand idea looks awesome! I can just see how nice it would look with some decoration and those yummy cupcakes! icon_smile.gif So Costco, you said?? Is the stand available online, because I don't have a Costco near me??

Oh, and I'm doing this for only 60 cupcakes. It's in addition to a 4-tier wedding cake (not to mention 4 cheesecakes, 2 sheet cakes, and chocolate-covered strawberries)...so you can see the stress that is behind this desperate question...hehe!! icon_smile.gif

WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?! haha

Check on line I thought it would make a great cupcake stand or cake it came with 4 large white plates for only $21. Theother 2 plant stands my daughter picked up at Liquidation world for .49 ea and they work perfect together. I'm looking forward to using it. I have a consultation tomorrow for 150 cupcakes hope she goes for it.
