I am making a fireman cake for by BL and would like to simulate water coming from the hose. I experimented with white royal icing tinted with blue but that is not really the effect I was looking for. Any ideas?? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
I once made an ocean scene where the water was blue tinted piping gel. I wanted to make breaking waves with foam and to do that I put a little buttercream on a toothpick and dabbed it into the wave. The wave then looked like it had foam on the top....you can see this on my margaritaville cake in my gallery if you look very closely
Anyway, I'm telling you all this because I think if you make the water coming out of the hose out of blue piping gel and then mixed in a little light blue buttercream (after its on the cake) you may get the look you want. Hope this helps.
Keep me posted....I'm curious to see how the cake comes out.
If this is kind of 3-D cake with your fireman standing up, you could use blue saran wrap (if you can find it). Take some out and roll it. put it in the firehose down to the cake.
Thanks for the great responses. The cake needs to be ready on Wednesay so I'll post a picture (success or failure I'll post) Thanks so much for the quick responses. This site is great and offers so much support.
I love that cake Adven....I'm doing a cake in April for a Firemans' installation dinner.
How did you make your ladders? I'll need one big enough to lean against a fire hydrant.

The ladder is mmf...I rolled it out and used my exacto to cut out the squares.....I didn't have a square cookie cutter that was the right size...but that would be a lot easier. Then I painted it with silver lustre dust mixed with a drop of vodka.
