I only know of ABC Cake Decorating, JoAnns and Michaels to get cake decorating supplies in the Phoenix area. Anyone know of anywhere else to purchase cake specialty items?

Christy's on Main Street in Mesa! I just discovered it a few weeks ago and it is great! I live in Chandler and I have been driving all the way to ABC so I was so happy to find it. Christy's is still somewhat new, so they don't have absolutely everything, but you can pretty much find what you need there and she is very helpful. Cute little shop. What side of town do you live on?

I live in North Phoenix....it's not a horrible drive to ABC, but my husband doesn't like me going to that part of town alone without him and he's so busy. My sister lives in the East Valley, so I'm there often. I'll have to check out the new shop! Thanks!
I wonder if there is the demand for another cake decorating shop in the North Valley? Hmmmmmmmmm

Ya it is on Main Street in historic downtown Mesa. It is nice when the weather is nice to walk up and down Main Street, lots of antique shops, lots of boutiques, little cafes and sandwich shops. It might be a nice day out for you and your sister (And a good excuse to spend some money on cake stuff)

Hello fellow Arizonans!
I'm so glad to find more girls from my area! I'm in Gilbert. I go to Christy's all the time! She opened her store just over a year ago and it's awesome! She has everything I need. ABC has a lot of the plastic toys and decorations and lots of candy making supplies that Christy's doesn't have but I personally don't use those so it's fine by me.
Are either of you aware of the cake clubs? There are two in the valley. One meets in Phoenix called the Westside Cake Club and the the other meets in Mesa at Christy's store called Confection Connection Cake Club.
(that's the one I go to ) Also, I wanted to let you know the 3rd Annual Cake and Sugar Art Show will be held next February in Glendale. It's in the planning and orgainzing stages right now ( I'm helping with that too) and I'll be posting more details about it on the Events board as soon as we've finalized everything.
If you'd like more info, feel free to pm me!

I am taking the F&GP class as JoAnns in Peoria now and my Instructor is part of the Westside Cake Club (pretty sure). I'll find more info from her on Thursday about the club. She should know about the show, too, I think. How fun! I'll have to check out Christy's. How exciting...I love browsing!

Hi Kim,
Thanks for all the info about the cake world around here! I will look forward to seeing the show next year!! What kind of things do you do at the cake club and what is involved in joining? Thanks!
Cassie

Hi Cassie and ombaker,
There are two cake clubs. The Westside Cake Club meets in Phoenix at one of the member's homes on the last Sunday of every month in the afternoons. They have about 25 members. I don't attend those meetings but know quite a few ladies who do.
I attend the Confection Connection Cake Club that meets on the last Monday of every month at Christy's Cake Supplies. ( 125 W Main St in Mesa) Meetings are from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Every month there are one or two demos, the president of the club goes over old and new business, discussions, refreshments and just fun to meet with fellow decorators. There are nearly 50 members in our club now. I've invited several girls I "met" online from here at Cake Central to come and it was so nice to meet in person. In December, we do an annual Christmas party/cookie exchange at a local restaurant and that's great fun! If you'd like to learn more, please check out our website at http://www.freewebs.com/confectionconnection/
We'll be starting to work on the club's display cake for the cake show in the next few months. And of course we're trying to get everyone interested in entering any form of sugar art in the show. I'll be posting more details as they are finalized about the Cake Show in the Events folder soon.
There are all skill level of decorators who come to the meetings from those who are just taking beginner classes at Michael's all the way up to the professionals. If you look in the EVENTS albums, find the AZ Cake Show photos and you'll get an idea of some of the cakes we've done in the past two cake shows.
You are more than welcome to join us and see what you think. If you care to join, the lady in charge of new members will set you up. I really encourage you to come sometime. I've been going for a year now and have gotten very involved and love it!
Let me know if you have any questions! I'll be happy to help!
KimAZ
