I would like to attempt a white cake with a strawberry BC filling. I wanted to use a ready made vanilla frosting or make my own BC.

Can I take ready made frosting, add strawberry jam and some strawberry syrup or are there some good recipes out there? icon_lol.gif

Thanks for your help.

Most bakery supplies carrie premade filling, or you can cut up strawberries and get a glaze at the store (even Walmarts carry it). You can also mix coolwhip with strawberry jam very easily.

Somebody on another thread just put up this Wilton recipe:

2 C hulled strawberries
1/2 C sugar
1 TB unflavored gelatin
2 TB cold water
3 TB boiling water
1/2 C whipping cream

Crush strawberries; add sugar and let stand. Soften gelatin in cold water; add boiling water and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Stir gelatin into strawberries and allow to cool. Whip cream until stiff. When mixture is the consistency of heavy syrup, fold whipped cream into mixture. Allow to set. Fills 2 8" layers.

Take your pick! Some are less time-consuming than others, but they all work depending on the flavor and texture you are going for. icon_biggrin.gif

I have mixed strawberry jam with my buttercream and it is luscious. There is also a wonderful fresh strawberry filling under www.ladycakes.com that I have also made, but be sure to use a heavy dam of frosting around filling.

I found a recipe somewhere on this site and just used it this past weekend it was a hit and oh so easy.

1 Cup Frozen Strawberries (sliced with juice)
1 small box Instant Jello (Strawberry)
1 small tub of Cool Whip

Mix Strawberries with Instant Jello and bring to a boil over medium heat. (Note do not add any water). Refrigerate until cool and firm. Stir in Cool Whip (Note first start with one cup and add more until you get flavor and texture you want). Unbelievably easy and not runny.
