Can anyone tell me really quickly how much icing I need to cover a 9" cake? Just staight icing it, no decorations or anything. I want to color some icing, but I don't want it all to be that color...I don't want to color more than I'll need. Thanks!

To cover a two layer 9 in cake (4in tall) I use around 3-4 cups of icing. ( Ilike it thick).

You will need at least a double batch. I am assuming you are using this for filling as well right? You will probably need a batch that calls for 2 lbs. of powdered sugar, so for me that is a double batch. Hope this helps thumbs_up.gif

No piping right?

Hi!

For a 2 layer cake, you'll need about 4 1/2 cups of icing... I always like to make about 1 cup more than I need, just incase!

Hope all goes well!
