I don't have a bunch of different pans, and I didn't want to go buy a big pan for just one occasion, so my question is...How big does two 13x9 inch cake pans make? Do they make a half a sheet? And also, if the cake needs to feed 40-50 people will two 13x9 inch cakes put side by side be big enough? icon_smile.gif

are you doubling them? a 13x9 is a 1/4 sheet cake. If you want to feed 40 to 50 people I would say that you need to bake 4 13x9 cakes, butt two of them side by side and then add a second layer making it a 26x9 inch double layer cake. That would maybe feed 40 to 50 of my family members anyways. LOL

I just bought a 12x18 sheet pan. If you check the Wilton website they show how many servings for sheet cakes. They show 6 slices across and 12 slices down I think.

I agree with freddyfl, but instead of having a 26x9 cake, which seems very long and skinny, and probably tougher to transport (to me anyway), I would bake the 4 13x9, butt them together and do two layers each, but to get a 13x18 cake instead.

A double layer 13 x 9 = 25 servings (wedding size portions)

Two 13x9 pans make a 26x9 cake side by side. If you are going to tort and fill this cake you do not need to make this a double layer cake. A 1/4 sheet cake feeds about 24 people depending on the size of cake that you cut. So, two of these should be just fine for whatever event you are making this cake for. icon_biggrin.gif

I make 2 9x13 cakes and the do a second layer of two more cakes and it usually serves around 50 or people depending on who is cutting it. I haven't had the money to buy the bigger pan yet.
How big is a half a sheet cake anyways???

Full Sheet: 18"x24"

1/2 Sheet: 12"x18"

1/4 Sheet: 9"x12"

This seems to vary a bit, but this is what I go by.

YES, YES, that is what I was picturing in my head...just doubled the wrong numbers!
