Ideas For Cake Celebrating A New Adoption?
Decorating By maggiev777 Updated 29 Jun 2007 , 4:02am by cakesbyjess

My friends have adopted a baby boy from the Marshall Islands. They will be back at our church next Sunday and we will all meet their new little one and see him baptized. We will have a covered dish supper at the church afterwards. I would love to make a decorated cake for the dessert table (which will be filled with other yummy things too).
Any ideas on what I could do? It needs to be a 9x13 probably, or maybe a 12" petal pan - something flat that people could easily cut themselves as they go through the food line. I would probably prefer BC or whipped cream frosting too since some folks aren't crazy about fondant (though fondant accents or decorations would be fine). I've searched through the gallery cakes that referenced adoption but couldn't find the "right" one. Many of the baby shower cakes are adorable, but I still haven't quite hit on the right idea yet.
Any input would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I haven't had a look at the adoption cakes so I don't know whether I am saying something you allready know but I saw once a card (we have birth cards here for newborn ) for a adopted girl from China, which was really nice, a pic of a baby in a hotair balloon, one side a sign to China, the other sign (these wooden signs you see at roads) to Holland.
I hope it will turn out great your cake!! Good luck!!

here is a poem that my mother put in my baby book ( I am adopted) that maybe you could add to the cake.
Not flesh of my flesh
nor bone of my bone
but miracuously still my own
Never forget for a single minute
you didn't grow under my heart
but in it.

Here is a cake that I did for an baby girl adoption. It didn't specifically reference adoption, but it's what the new parents asked for. You could always make it in blues and greens to make it more boyish. Hope this helps.

P.S. - I mistakenly called it a baby shower cake in the description.
