Chocolate And Strawberry.....

My sister was extra special today , and I need to make her a cake tonight to say thank you for leaving work and spending an hour driving here to get me back into my house after I locked mysel out.
I have a really rocking cchocolate cake recipe that I know she loves... but I also have a lot of strawberries left from a wedding cake this past weekend.... So I'm thinking of making both choc and SB and then torting it in layers.... with whip cream icing and possibly some straw glaze filling to counter the rich choc and balance it out....
Does that sound good to you, or am i just that desperate to get my freezer back?

You know I have always thought chocolate and strawberry would not be that great together, maybe chocolate and raspberry. But I had a request for chocolate cake, fresh strawberries in glaze for the filling and Sarah Bernhardt chocolate glaze as icing. I got to eat a piece of that cake and it was so delicious. Now with a layer of chocolate, cake, strawberry filling and strawberry cake, it sounds excellent to me and it will look so pretty when it is cut and served. Whipped cream icing sounds good too, but sometime give that SB Glaze a try on a chocolate/strawberry cake. I think you will really like it.
Here is the cake.

And here is the recipe for the SB Glaze

I think it would go very well together.
Chocolate, Strawberry, and Cream Cheese is my fav combo...granted i have expiermented tooo much...its still a winner everytime. If you wanted to use a cream cheese recipe, try the Wilton White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting.... ....even though its a frosting it works just as well as a filling.
I would definitly go with what you have planned to make her though(even if it frees us some space in your freezer...its just a bonus to making a delicious cake)

well, the photo said it all when sis sent me one to my cell phone that simply said "Cake massacre" Lol.... it was a 14" square, triple layered, with a layer of strawberrys in glaze near the top, and whip cream frosting (Bettercream) and then BC borders, writing, roses, etc... I never took a picture of the cake, go figure!
