Question! I want to make a 2 layer round cake with BC frosting. On top I want to decorate with coco power that has been sifted through a doily. My concern is that when I lay the doily on the cake, and then sift the coco through the holes, when I go to pull it up, it would have stuck on the frosting. This of course might make my smooth surface all spoiled.

Or, should I let the frosting sit for a while and then do the doily. My concern then would be the frosting might be too dry for the coco to stick to.

Please share advice if you have done this in the past and tell me what to do and NOT to do. Thanks!

If you use a crusting buttercream, just let it crust, smooth it, then use your doily. You may want to mix the cocoa with powdered sugar. Even though there will only be a little on each piece, it's not a pleasant taste. I do this on my "plain" cakes and brownies all the time without a problem.
