My first wedding and the Bride wants to have candles on the cake. The wedding date is on the bride and grooms birthday. I think that it is cool but has anyone ever heard of doing that and if so what should I do as far as questions for the bride and reception site owner. detective.gif

I never heard of that but i think its a neat idea. I would just make sure it is okay with the reception site owner. I would imagine it would be.

I had never heard of this either until I saw several on this site. It really is pretty! I wish I had seen this before my wedding.

You could also get monogrammed candles to be used as a cake topper. Google it and you'll get few bridal sites, like ultimateweddingmall.com.

I made a wedding cake for a friend using tealight candles in frosted glass holders. The heat from the candles did not pose a problem with the bc icing at all. I lit the candles after the wedding and just before people came in for the reception. The cake was beautiful, if I do say so myself.

Wow I've never seen candles on a wedding cake either but that picture is soo pretty! I wonder how you do that though.... I mean, how do you keep the icing from melting around the candles? And how do you make sure the candles don't topple over or sink into the cake?

As far as having the wedding on their b-days - well I guess they can't forget their anniversary date then!!! Although I like to have my presents spread out across the year icon_biggrin.gif ....... you get better presents icon_smile.gif than when they are all lumped together I think - like people who have b-days in December don't get two seperate presents all the time - they just get one maybe big present for both celebrations.

I did a wedding shower cake and I presented it on a mirror with small votive candles/ with clear holders and I used colored glass sprinkled around on the mirror to help reflect the light. (colored glass from the craft store used in vases for flower arranging).

I've seen a gorgeous cake stand with candles on. I think it's a Wilton one and it costs £35 (not sure what that would be in dollars - $55?) In the UK you can get it from www.sugarshack.co.uk
