I'm make a 3-D sheet cake with horses in a pasture. I want to put some kind of edible item for grey rocks. I don't want to use icing. I'm trying to think of something that could be tinged grey and placed on top. Would have to be the size of smaller jelly bean to match the size of the horses. Any ideas?

they sell edible rocks on some websites I have seen. Do you have time to order them. Or get jelly beans and you can always be creative and cut them down to size.

If push comes to shove, you could color some marshmallows and stick on there. icon_smile.gif

I used fondant for some rocks I made...but I can't say that I suggested for anyone to eat them. icon_smile.gif

Good luck.

what about nerds, the candy. I don't know if they come in the color that you're looking for, but you never know.

Marzipan does good for this. Also Jelly Belly beans.

In my area, the card shop (Hallmark, etc.) sells the chocolate candy rocks. They sell them as a gift item. Kinda spendy, but they look just like rocks. Used them as a centerpiece w/ plastic dinosaurs for my son's 1st birthday. Jelly Belly jelly beans probably has some flavor that is grey or brownish.

In the contest gallery under the great outdoors, there are some great cakes with rocks on them- most are fondant or MMF

If the rocks don't HAVE to be gray, you could make Sea Foam candy and break it up. (Like the inside of a Cadbury Crunchie candy bar.) It makes whitish-tanish-brownish rocks.
