I need some ideas for a 60th birthday cake for my MOM. Originally we were going to make a tombstone cake (thank you to Doug for all his ideas) BUT we just found out that MOM is having some difficulty with turning 60 so maybe a tombstone is not the way to go. We are now looking for something fun and humorous. I will take ALL ideas. Her surprise party is in a few weeks.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Have you thought about a topsy turvy cake? I haven't done one - but they're fabulous! They are so fun and whimsical - it may be the perfect thing to lift her spirit! You could even make some cute stuff on wires to come spiraling out of the cake - I love those! Or make the letters for happy birthday to each be put on a wire and inserted into any part of the cake you desire!

I recently made a cake for sister in law's 50th birthday> She was very down and depressed, so I was afraid she wouldn't like my cake. Everyone else insisted that I go ahead and make a fun, teasy cake. It was a toilet cake. Check out the many ideas in the gallery. Lots of fun and different writings to put on them. You can even cover your toilet seat with roses. It turned out to be the smash at the party!!!
She loved her cake and it made her laugh and brought her cheer. I recommend for you to check out those toilet cake ideas and you can come up with one yourself icon_biggrin.gif
I am so thankful for all the great pictures in the gallery to help inspire when my creativity is low.

What kind of things does your Mom like? Something that reminds her of the things that make her happy will cheer her up.

Also, have you thought about a photo cake? You could have some edible images made from photos of your Mom at different ages. I have seen some really nice photo cakes in the gallery.

There are a couple of 'bra' cakes in the gallery that say "so and so is turning 60, let's show our support." It might not be appropriate for everyone, but I think it's pretty funny. My mom is very sensitive about tombstone cakes and death related things, so I am going to make her one like this for her 60th.

I have an order for an 60th birthday cake for a male, they only want the numbers for the cake not on a sheet cake, not sure how to decorate it. Any suggestions?
