Hello everybody,
I'm planning to do a chocolate cake for by friend's B'day but want to try with some different kind of filling.
I was thinking of orange filling. Does anybody has good orange filling recipe that they don't mind passing on??

Any other ideas are also welcome.

Thanks in advance

I love the orange-chocolate combination, but I do it by doing an orange yellow cake, with orange rum liqueur, filed with dark chocolate ganache, also with a touch of orange liqueur

Is just your usual yellow cake with oranege peel and a few drops of orange essence. then make simple syrop and and add the orange licor to it, depending on how much you want it to come out

Take one orange and grate all the zest off of it, add all the juice and zest to enough buttercream to fill the cake. I made this to fill a chocolate cake once and got RAVE reviews icon_smile.gif

Do you mind sharing your chocolate ganache filling recipe? Will it hold up at room temp. for a couple of days in a fondant covered cake?

i just made a really moist buttermilk chocolate cake last night, with whipped dark semisweet chocolate ganache infused with orange oil extract. yummy. it kind of cut the serious sting of so much chocolate.

equal parts choc/cream ...one 12 oz bag of choc chips, 2 cups of heavy whipping cream. bring cream to a near boil. put choc in a metal bowl, cover with hot cream. sit for 2 minutes, then whisk until melted. add liquor or extract. cool at room temp. chill slightly, whip. yum! (rechill and it will hold its shape really well.)

Need to ask.... is orange essence( or any other flavor for that matter) and orange extract the same thing??? or is there a difference?

essence is more oil, extract more alcohol based. But you can use both the same way.
